Virginia Rogers is a professional freelance harpist with a diverse repertoire spanning the genres of classical, jazz, pop, folk, and world music. Virginia won third prize in the pedal harp division at the 2007 Lyon and Healy International Jazz and Pop Harpfest competition. Most recently, Virginia accepted the position of harpist for the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, MI, where she performed daily during the 2008 season. Prior to this, Virginia resided in Boston, MA, where she regularly played for tea at the Taj Boston Hotel in addition to performing at various other venues as a member of the Boston harp guild, The Gilded Harps. Virginia Rogers completed her Masters degree in harp performance in the spring of 2005, under the direction of Dr. Carrol McLaughlin at the University of Arizona, in Tucson, Arizona. In May of 2004, Virginia graduated cum laude from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, where she studied harp with Bridgett Stuckey and majored in music, focusing on music composition and jazz performance.
